Victoria dreams of sending her two other children through school and building them their own house.
Victoria Zaba, Bead Maker
Bead-Making Center (Krobo)
Sixty year old Victoria has only been making beads for the past 10 years. Growing up right in Odumase-Krobo, she followed her parents and siblings and began her working life on her family farm. But after working three decades as a farmer, the hard labor began to take a toll on her body, Victoria explains, and began teaching herself in the craft of bead making. Victoria's Adinkra beads, long beads painted with African symbols, are desired by all the market dwellers in Angomanya, including Global Mamas. Yet with having to support her brother's children and four children of her own with her farmer husband, Victoria has only been able to send two of her children through school. But Victoria is optimistic, saying that since Global Mamas has been one of her main customers she feels her dreams are within reach.
